The ensemble comprising the Spore Initiative and Publix forms a new cultural anchor point along Hermannstraße in Berlin-Neukölln. While the Spore Initiative develops programs on biocultural diversity and perspectives from the Global South, Publix provides workspaces for journalism, public discourse, and democratic participation.

The facade of Publix is characterized by rough-textured, board-formed red concrete, whereas the Spore building combines a red concrete base with layers of reclaimed bricks and new clinker. The staggered building volumes, mediating between the perimeter block development and the adjacent park, create a shared forecourt that integrates the historic cemetery gate. The interweaving of indoor and outdoor ground-floor spaces translates the ambition to offer the neighborhood open access to places of cultural exchange and democratic dialogue.

Following an introduction by the architects and a conversation with the client and users, guided tours through the ensemble will take place.
