- How can journalism amplify voices that are often overlooked in public debates?

- What role does local journalism play in regions marked by conflict, social division, and repression?

- And what strategies do local reporters develop to continue publishing under these restrictive conditions?

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) invites you to a panel discussion with three journalists from its Berlin fellowship program:

The work of Vladimer Chkhitunidze from Georgia, Cendrella Azar from Lebanon, and Mahmoud Al Ashek from Syria combines hyperlocal journalism that is close to the people and addresses marginalized communities, ethnic diversity, and conflicts in multi-ethnic contexts.

The discussion will focus on how journalism can make complex societies more understandable, how it can promote participation, and how it can help forge a sense of identity within communities. At the same time, the fellows will report on the difficult conditions and shrinking scope for independent reporting.

- What do journalists need to be able to continue their work despite these challenges?

- What protective and preventive measures are particularly important?

- And what can the RSF Fellowship Program achieve in this context?

The event will be held in English. Snacks and drinks will be served afterward.
