On TikTok and Instagram, children and teenagers are confronted with unrealistic beauty standards: many faces are manipulated, whether with camera filters, cosmetics and makeup, injections, or surgeries. Do underage digital natives have the necessary media literacy to recognize this? In this relaxed workshop, we dive into everyday social media imagery and try to decode it together. Because if it's all made up, why should kids let themselves be influenced and unsettled by it?

The workshop is led by Rabea Weihser and Sandra Kaul. Rabea Weihser was culture editor of ZEIT ONLINE. Her book on "Beauty Pressure & Media" has just been published: "How We Became So Beautiful. A Biography of the Face" (Diogenes), which had its premiere at Publix. Sandra Kaul is a systemic coach with therapeutic training and experience in youth work.

The workshop is aimed at children and teenagers of all genders between 15 and 17 years old.
