Seagrass? Isn’t that the brown, decaying stuff you find on the beach? No. That’s algae. Seagrass meadows can store up to 50 times more carbon per square meter than forests. They are hotspots of biodiversity and provide habitat and food for thousands of animal species.
The United Nations describes seagrass meadows as one of the “secret weapons” in the fight against climate change. Yet over the past 100 years, 30 percent of these meadows have been destroyed. It’s time to change that.
For the new focus issue of Good Impact magazine, the editorial team set out to find pioneers of change. To celebrate the publication of this special edition, the Good Impact team invites you to explore this remarkable ecosystem together with experts, music, and refreshments.
Participation is free of charge.
This event is made possible with the generous support of the Andrea von Braun Foundation.
