For 30 years, U.S. journalist Amy Goodman has been reporting on the most pressing and often underreported stories of our time through her news program Democracy Now!. There is no major media conglomerate behind it: Democracy Now!does not carry advertisements or sponsorships and is funded by its audience.
The documentary Steal This Story, Please! now traces Goodman’s extraordinary journey—her reporting from war zones, protests, and the New York newsroom. The film paints a portrait of an unwavering journalist who holds politicians, corporate executives, and other powerful figures accountable, and as a result, it became the highest-grossing documentary of 2026 in the U.S. to date.
A glance at the guests who attended Democracy Now!’s 30th anniversary celebration illustrates the significance of Goodman’s journalistic work: Angela Davis, Michael Stipe, Patti Smith, and Bruce Springsteen spoke and sang at New York’s Riverside Church.
In cooperation with the Schöpflin Foundation, Publix is bringing Steal This Story, Please! and Amy Goodman to Berlin for an exclusive screening. Following the screening, Goodman will speak with documentary and theater director Andrés Veiel (known for “Riefenstahl,” among other works).
The film and the discussion will be held in English.
