AI is putting new pressure on public trust, and the stakes for local democracy are high. But there is reason for hope: across Europe, people already use digital tools to bring more voices into decisions about their communities.
The morning opens with a look at what is at stake and where the opportunities lie. Next comes a working model of citizen participation, along with the question of what it could look like in Germany today. Over a working lunch modelled on a citizens' assembly, participants test these ideas and put together recommendations. The recommendations feed into the work of a growing expert community that has formed across The Civic Toolkit series, which explores where technology and democracy meet.

The event will be held in English.
