Issa Amro has dedicated his life to non-violent resistance against the Israeli occupation of the West Bank in violation of international law. Together with the initiative he founded, Youth Against Settlements, Amro documents human rights violations, organizes protests and supports the Palestinian residents of the Israeli-controlled part of Hebron (H2), who are subjected to constant threats and attacks by Israeli settlers and the military, in a variety of ways. In 2024, he was awarded the “Alternative Nobel Prize” for his work.

Settlers, the Israeli military and the Palestinian Authority respond to his persistent, always peaceful engagement with violence, harassment and countless arrests. Since the latest Israeli military offensive in the West Bank, the pressure on him has once again increased massively.

At the invitation of Amnesty International Germany, Right Livelihood (“Alternative Nobel Prize”) and Publix, Issa Amro and Stephan Detjen will talk about his life and the current situation in the West Bank.

The moderated discussion will be held in English. We offer simultaneous translation into German.
