Library Chats are an inspiring series of conversations that will take place at the Publix Library, providing a platform for women in media and civil society to come together, collaborate, network, strategise and reflect on our role in shaping society. This series encourages candid conversations under Chatham House rules with an emphasis on empowerment, mentorship, and collective action. Our guest for this event is The first guest of Library Chats is Wafaa Albadry is an award-winning Egyptian-German journalist, editor, and media innovator with over 15 years of experience in broadcast and digital media across Europe and the Middle East. Most recently, she served as the Newsletter Editor at The National in Abu Dhabi, overseeing a diverse portfolio of newsletters. She is also pursuing an MSc in Cyberpsychology, exploring the intersection of human cognition and artificial intelligence. Previously, she spent a decade at Germany’s international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW), where she held key editorial roles and led innovative media projects; developed She@Work, a digital show and online community aimed at empowering women's economic progress in the MENA region, and contributed to the design of an in-messenger bot game to combat disinformation and address news avoidance; and was a regional editor at Unbias the News, she led award-winning cross-border investigations and co-authored the book Unbias the News: Why Diversity Matters for Journalism. Her work has been featured in prominent outlets such as the BBC, Business Insider, France24, and Vice.
