From deepfakes to decontextualisation, challenges in verifying digital content are multiplying. Increasingly, AI is not only seen as part of the problem, but also as a possible solution to combat disinformation. But what can journalists realistically expect?

After three years of research and development, the news-polygraph Research Alliance brings together journalists, technologists and media professionals to discuss the role AI can realistically play in verification today. Sharing evidence and insights from the development and testing of multimodal verification tools, the conference examines the promises and limits of verification in journalistic practice. What proves useful across text, audio, image and video? Where do current approaches fall short? And can we expect AI-based tools to ever become a one-stop solution?

The conference offers a grounded perspective on how AI can support journalists in addressing disinformation and invites discussion on what this means for editorial practice and the future of information verification.

Participation is free of charge.
