25 years ago, UN Resolution 1325 marked a historic milestone by highlighting the disproportionate impact of conflict on women and the essential role they play in peace processes. We want to evaluate what has been achieved but also look ahead. For a quarter of a century, Resolution 1325 has stood for the demand to take women seriously in peace and security processes and to include them consistently. Yet, there is often a significant gap between aspiration and reality. How is the resolution being implemented in different regions and contexts? What progress, setbacks, and new approaches are emerging at international, national, and local levels? We also aim to shed light on the role of German development cooperation in this context.
Among the speakers are Jeannette Böhme (medica mondiale), Silke Nikolay (GIZ), and Nicola Popovic (Gender Associations). We also look forward to contributions from local women’s organizations and peace networks from Cameroon and Uganda.
Moderation: Nora Teuma (GIZ & Board Member at UN Women Germany e.V.)
